A Very Sweet Super Bowl
featured image courtesy of Sweet Cupcakes It should come as no surprise that I’m often motivated by food. Sunday night football = wings & beer. Bookclub = cupcakes & sangria. The Super Bowl is no different. Of course, I enjoy watching the game but there’s nothing quite like Super Bowl party food. This year I’ll be making Beat the [Giants] Wings (which clearly worked wonders with the Broncos) to bring to the party. If my sweet tooth gets the better of me I’ll definitely snag these cupcakes from Sweet (Cream the Giants?!) Am I making enemies? Go Pats! image courtesy...

Tina Fey, Bossypants {BOOK GIVEAWAY!}
photo courtesy of kathleenonline An email with high priority at the top of in my inbox has the subject line “Next Meeting – BADASS BITCHES BOOK CLUB.” This is what I consider to be very important stuff. Mostly because the Baddass Bitches Book Club has very strict meeting regulations that require us to consume delicious dinner and drinks before we address plot, setting, or antagonist . Recently, the badass bitches and I read Tina Fey’s Bossypants. On a comedy scale of 0-10 this book is a real knee-slapper. It begins with anecdotes from Fey’s childhood long before Weekend Update or Liz Lemon. Growing up,...

Follow the Honey [Harvard Square, Cambridge MA]
After hearing about the new shop in Harvard Square, Follow the Honey, I had to visit to see what the buzz was about. Owner Mary Canning, a beekeeper in Warwick, celebrated the grand opening of Follow the Honey on August 20th 2011, coinciding with National Honey Bee Day. A former WGBH employee, as production support on Frontline and an associate producer for Nova, Mary was inspired to celebrate life after losing her husband to bone cancer. In an interview with the Boston Globe she asks, “What’s more alive than bees and honey? I think people crave things that are alive...

new year’s eve 101
New Year’s Eve Ball, 1978. Photo credit: The New York Times For some NYE is just another night and for me others it’s a great excuse to celebrate. I really enjoy extending the holiday season into the new year with assorted cheeses and friends. I’m also a fan of any holiday that promotes glitter, champagne and a countdown. Remember those paper chains you made in elementary school to keep track of how many days were left until Santa came? I was a huge fan. In the spirit of discovery, I did some quick googling to figure out what was up...

I Believe I Can Fly
The Skyliners are a group adventurers who are addicted to walking the line. A love for climbing, mountaineering, and skydiving led the group to slacklining-a sport that uses 1 inch nylon line between 2 anchor points to create a loose tightrope for feats of bravery and balance. Director and videographer, Sébastien Montaz-Rosset, filmed the Skyliners taking flight off highlines set between fjords and cliffs in Norway. I Believe I can Fly ( flight of the frenchies). Paperless Post
In the age of ebooks and iPads, it’s no wonder many people are turning to evites for save-the-dates and party invitations. Saving paper, stamps, and resources are great reasons to go digital. As someone who enjoys getting crafty with handmade stationary and who loves the suspense in turning the pages of a book, I usually find that something is lost in the translation from tangible to electronic. The best evites that I’ve come across are from Paperless Post. These online invitations and stationary come with a virtual envelope  to be “opened” and even appear as if they were made with paper and other natural elements. View a sample Paperless Post...

like there’s no tomorrow
Last week I attended Warren Miller’s latest film, … Like There’s No Tomorrow, at the beautiful Somerville Theater. Between the film and a visit to the Boston Ski & Snowboard Expo, I could not be more ready to hit the bunnyhill. This year I’m heading into it with my first pair of ski boots, a helmet, Smith Optics goggles and a season pass at Sugarbush. No excuses for not making a few green circle runs this season. Without a doubt, I’m the most enthusiastic bunny on the hill so I should be carving turns in no time. Last year, I took lessons...
