gorgeous gift wrap
Joy to the world-I’ve finished most of my holiday shopping! Now I’m excited to get wrapping and enjoy the packages under the tree before the gift giving begins. The Glitter Guide and Decor8 recently posted some fun gift wrap ideas using materials that you probably already have around the house. My original plan was to use some recycled brown postal wrap & bakers twine and a few stamps if I’m feeling crafty. These new ideas might send me into a wrapping frenzy this year! Check out some of my favorites below. flags & twine image courtesy of decor8blog metallic and...

In Boston, I have a few beautiful pieces from the SoWa Open Market and Etsy remains a go-to on the interwebs. parted waters
No dreamland is complete without forts and moats. RO&AD architects have built a sunken pedestrian bridge that provides water-parting, moat-crossing access to the Fort de Roovere, a long abandoned fort from the 17th century. Many moats and fortresses were built in Netherland during the 1600s to serve as protection from invasion by France and Spain. The moats were often too shallow for boats to cross and too deep for invaders to march through. RO&AD designed a trench bridge that creates an optical illusion that is similar to an infinity pool. Since the water level is even with the height of the bridge, the bridge...

Although I’m a big time offender, I really dislike bringing technology to bed. But I’ll be honest. I’m an avid Mac user and I love my Macbook, iPhone and AppleTV so much that it only seems appropriate that they share my bedroom with me. Still, I’m a big believer in making my bedroom a sanctuary for relaxation and an escape from distraction. It’s only recently that a TV made it into my bedroom and it was mostly due to the fact that I couldn’t find a reason to have 2 TVs in the living room. However, nobody can deny that...

Score+Solder terrariums
Miniature things = undeniably cute. Think kittens, Alice in Wonderland, Thumbelina. Enter terrariums. I’ve always been fascinated by miniature plants growing in miniature cases. I picture a miniature gnome riding on the back of a miniature tree frog to pop up and complete my miniature fantasy. Until then, I have these to drool over. Matthew Cleland, the man behind Score+Solder, uses handmade glass and solder to great fabulously geometric and fantastical terrariums. Each work of art is made to order and sent complete with quartz, rocks, activated charcoal and soil. Miniature perfection. I’ll take it anyway I can get it! find...
